Art Nouveau ran from roughly 1890 to 1910, and its whole visual vocabulary was built for line art: long whiplash curves, flattened botanical shapes, and ornate frames that hold a subject without crowding it. That is why the style translates so cleanly to a coloring page. These 32 Art Nouveau coloring pages hand you the movement's own motifs, already drawn as clean outlines. Every design downloads as a free printable PDF sized for US Letter paper, 8.5 by 11 inches.
What Is in the Collection
The set covers the three subjects the movement returned to again and again, plus the objects its designers actually built.
Figures come first. Woman Profile With Floral Headpiece and Flowing Lines and Feminine Figure With Rose Garland and Ornate Frame follow the poster convention Alphonse Mucha made famous in 1890s Paris: a single figure haloed by a decorative arch. Woman In Profile With Poppy Wreath keeps the profile and moves the ornament onto the gown.
Flora is second. Iris Flowers With Swirling Decorative Borders, Morning Glory Vines Climbing an Ornate Arch and Poppy Flowers in an Art Nouveau Vase use the plants the movement actually favored, chosen for their curves rather than their color. Tulips With Whiplash Stems, Ginkgo Leaves And Curling Stems, Magnolia Blossoms With Sweeping Curves, Cherry Blossom Branch and Bluebells And Ferns Panel extend the same list.
Fauna is third. Peacock With Flowing Feathers in an Art Nouveau Frame, Swan Among Water Lilies With Elegant Curves and Dragonfly Surrounded by Wisteria Vines all treat an animal as an excuse for pattern, and Owl Perched Among Ivy, Koi Fish Among Curling Water Plants and Nautilus Shell With Spiraling Seaweed do the same with feathers, scales and a spiral.
Objects come fourth, and they are the largest group added to this page. Art Nouveau was a design movement before it was a drawing style, and its designers spent their careers on things people actually used. Stained Glass Lamp With Dragonfly Shade is the Tiffany shade, Wrought Iron Gate With Curling Ironwork is the Guimard ironwork, and Hair Comb With Orchid Blossoms is the Lalique jewel. Teapot And Cups With Flowing Floral Engraving, Folding Screen With Flowering Branches, Lantern With Curling Vine Brackets, Fountain With Water Lily Basins and Stained Glass Window With Thistles furnish the rest of the interior.
The original figure, flora and fauna sheets each appear in both a simple and a detailed treatment. Simple sheets keep the whiplash curve and drop the interior fill. Detailed sheets such as Peacock Feathers Forming an Ornate Decorative Panel and Butterfly With Stained Glass Style Wings break large shapes into dozens of small cells, closer to a stained glass cartoon than a standard coloring book page. Everything added since is drawn at the detailed end.
Who These Pages Are For
This is an adult collection. The detailed sheets carry enclosed spaces small enough to need a sharpened pencil or a 0.5 mm fineliner, and most take 60 to 90 minutes to finish. Colorists who like structure do well here, because the frames and borders make every decision a local one instead of a blank-page problem.
Teenagers and confident colorists aged 12 and up handle the simple sheets comfortably. Younger children generally do not, and are better served by the bolder line art in Nature Flowers or Animals Butterflies.
Printing and Coloring Tips
Print on 65 lb cardstock if you plan to use markers or gel pens. The detailed panels put a lot of ink into a small area, and 20 lb copy paper buckles and bleeds through.
Work from a limited historical palette rather than a full pencil set. Art Nouveau interiors leaned on muted olive, mustard, dusty rose, teal and cream, with metallic gold as an accent. Five colors plus gold will read as period-correct where twelve bright colors will not.
Color the frame and the subject in different value ranges. Keep the ornamental border light and the figure or animal darker, and the composition stays readable instead of dissolving into one flat texture.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Art Nouveau style in coloring pages?
Art Nouveau is a decorative art movement that peaked between roughly 1890 and 1910. In line art it shows up as three things: the whiplash curve, a long asymmetric S-line that never quite closes; flattened plant and animal forms drawn as silhouette rather than as realistic volume; and an ornate frame or arch surrounding the subject. Alphonse Mucha's theater posters are the reference most people recognize.
Are these Art Nouveau coloring pages hard?
The detailed sheets are, by design. Pages tagged detailed break the artwork into small enclosed cells and take most adults 60 to 90 minutes. The sheets tagged simple keep the same subjects with open shapes and finish in about 20 minutes, which is where to start if the style is new to you.
What colors did Art Nouveau artists actually use?
The palette ran muted and earthy: olive green, mustard, ochre, dusty rose, peacock teal, deep plum and cream, frequently with gold. Tiffany glass and Mucha's printed posters both worked in that register. If you want the pages to look like the period rather than like a modern coloring book, pick five of those and stop there.
What pens work best on the detailed panels?
Use fineliners at 0.3 to 0.5 mm, or sharpened colored pencils. The smallest cells in pages like the stained glass butterfly are a few millimeters across, and a standard marker nib will flood across the line. Fill the large areas with marker if you like, then switch tools for the border work.
Can I print these on A4 paper?
Yes. Every file is built for US Letter. Open the PDF, select "Fit to page" in the print dialog, and the artwork scales down to A4 without clipping the ornamental border.
