Peacock Feathers Forming An Ornate Decorative Panel Coloring Page

Seven peacock feathers fan upward from a heart shaped base at the bottom of this panel, arranged in strict mirror symmetry so the left half and the right half match one another exactly. Each feather is drawn as a single closed outline with an oval eye at its tip, a plain shaft, and rows of fine separated barbs sweeping off to either side. The tallest feather stands dead center. Wrapping around them all is a cage of ornamental scrollwork, spirals and hooks and leaf forms, closing in a pointed crest at the top and a scrolled foot below. That mirror symmetry makes this one of the easier detailed pages to plan. Settle the treatment for a single feather and its eye, then repeat it across the matching pairs, and the whole panel resolves itself. The eyes are the natural focal point, and the traditional scheme of a dark blue heart ringed with green and gold works exactly as well here as it does on a real bird. Keep the surrounding scrollwork to one quiet tone. It exists to contain the feathers, and coloring it as brightly as them costs the panel its shape.
