Valentine's Day is on 14 February, and for most children it is a classroom event rather than a romantic one: cards go in a decorated box, everyone gets one, and the whole thing takes an afternoon. These 15 Valentine's Day coloring pages are built around that reality, with card designs, mailboxes and heart art alongside a few for adults. Every design downloads as a free printable PDF sized for US Letter paper, 8.5 by 11 inches. If you want heart designs that are not tied to February, the heart coloring pages run from a plain toddler outline to a heart shaped mandala.
What Is in the Collection
Hearts and flowers are the simplest sheets and the best card fronts. Hearts and Roses Bouquet Tied With a Ribbon, Heart Wreath Made of Roses and Flowers, Heart Balloon Bouquet Floating in the Sky and Valentines Hearts.
Card and mail designs are the ones classrooms use. Mailbox Overflowing With Valentine's Day Letters, Stack of Colorful Valentine's Day Cards and Envelopes, Valentine's Day Mailbox in a Flower Garden, Two Children Exchanging Valentine's Day Cards and Child Delivering Valentine's Cards to Classmates.
Gifts and treats round out the middle. Heart Shaped Box of Chocolates and Sweets, Teddy Bear Holding a Giant Red Heart and Children Decorating Heart Shaped Valentine's Cookies.
Three more finish the set: Cupid Flying With His Bow and Arrow Among Hearts, Love Birds Sitting on a Branch With Hearts Around Them and Couple on a Romantic Valentine's Picnic.
Who These Pages Are For
The simple sheets suit ages 3 to 7. Hearts are among the easiest shapes for a young child to fill successfully, which makes this one of the more confidence-building collections on the site.
The detailed sheets add fine floral work and background scenes, and suit ages 8 and up. Teachers use the mailbox and card pages in the week before 14 February, and several designs are built to be cut out, which is worth knowing before you print. See also Teddy Bears and Nature Flowers.
Printing and Coloring Tips
Use more than one red. Valentine pages full of a single flat red look monotonous fast. Work with crimson, pink, magenta and a deep burgundy for shadow, and keep one or two hearts white or gold so the eye has somewhere to rest.
Print on 65 lb cardstock if the page is becoming a card or a cutout. Hearts cut from cardstock survive a classroom exchange and a backpack. Copy paper hearts tear at the point almost immediately.
Give each heart in the multi-heart designs its own pattern. Stripes on one, dots on another, a flower motif on a third. It turns a simple page into a much longer activity and teaches pattern making at the same time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do we exchange cards on Valentine's Day?
The custom of sending handwritten notes grew through the eighteenth century in Britain, and mass-produced cards arrived in the 1840s when Esther Howland began manufacturing them commercially in the United States. Cheaper postage made sending them practical for ordinary people. School card exchanges, where every child gives a card to every classmate, are a later American development and are now the main way children encounter the holiday.
Who is Cupid?
The Roman god of desire, son of Venus, known in Greek myth as Eros. He is depicted with a bow and two kinds of arrow, gold to cause love and lead to cause aversion. The plump winged child most people picture is a Renaissance convention rather than the classical version, where Eros was often shown as a young man. The Cupid page uses the familiar cherub form.
Which Valentine's pages work best as cards?
The heart wreath, the hearts and roses bouquet and the heart shaped box. All three are single centered designs that look right on a card front. Print on cardstock, color, then fold in half or cut out the shape and mount it. The mailbox page works differently and is better used as a decoration for a classroom card box.
What are the easiest Valentine's pages for preschoolers?
The valentines hearts sheet, the heart balloon bouquet and the heart shaped box of chocolates. Hearts are large closed shapes with no interior detail, which is exactly what a 3 to 5 year old can complete successfully. The picnic scene and the card delivery page have small figures and suit ages 8 and up.
Can I print these on A4 paper?
Yes. Every file is sized for US Letter. Choose "Fit to page" in your print dialog and the design scales to A4 without clipping.
