This mailbox has been decorated to within an inch of its life. Scrollwork curls across every panel, hearts are set into the side and the open door, flowers climb the back, and a ribbon and a pointed finial crown the top. It does not stand on a plain post either: the support below it is a twisting braid of vines that spirals down into the ground. Beneath all of it lies a packed flower bed running the full width of the page, daisies and cosmos and unopened buds layered three deep. Flourishes fill the two top corners, and a few small hearts drift in the open sky.
Worth knowing if you have already done the plainer mailbox sheet in this set: that one is a simple roadside box stuffed with mail, and this one is pure ornament. They are not two versions of the same drawing.
The flower bed is the long job. Vary the blooms rather than running one color across the row, or the bottom third turns into a stripe.
The upper left stays almost entirely blank, which is unusual on a page this busy. It gives the eye somewhere to rest.
