Unicorn With A Magnificent Flower Mane And Tail Coloring Page

Here the unicorn walks to the right with its head turned back toward you. A large five petal flower and two buds are tucked into the forelock, just below a straight spiral horn. The mane hangs in long separate ribbons that reach almost to the knee, and the tail lifts behind in the same banded style. There is no background whatever, no grass and no sky, just clean bold outline on open paper. Every shape is big and closed, which makes this one of the easier pages in the set and a sensible one to hand to a child who gives up when the lines get fine.

The mane is already divided into long parallel bands, so it is asking for stripes. Run a different color down each band, or repeat a short sequence of three colors the whole way along. Either is more satisfying than one flat color, and neither requires any skill.

A horse never sheds its mane the way it sheds its coat. Those hairs keep growing year after year, which is why an untrimmed mane can end up past the shoulder.
