Angel Silhouette With Detailed Wing Feathers Coloring Page

This is the most unusual sheet in the collection and the one most likely to appeal to an adult. The angel is drawn as a near silhouette, seen in profile with hands raised in prayer, and her body carries almost no interior line at all. Her head, arm and torso are simply closed outlines. Everything the artist had is spent on the single wing beside her, which sweeps from the top right corner down past her waist and is built from perhaps eighty separate feathers in five distinct layers, from small scalloped coverts at the shoulder to long narrow primaries at the tip. Below her the gown dissolves into a few long ribbon like strands rather than a solid skirt. The rest of the page is deliberately sparse: a fleur de lis and two flowering sprigs across the top, a peony spray to the right of the wing, a single tall leaf on the left, and one small dove flying in the bottom corner. The empty body is the whole point. Leave it white, or lay one flat tone across it, and let the wing carry every color you own.
