Dragon Perched Atop A Rocky Mountain Peak Coloring Page

A long necked dragon has landed on the point of a rocky peak, gripping the summit with both front feet, wings half raised and head lifted. Its tail trails down the far slope in a loose curve. The mountain is drawn with long vertical strokes that suggest weathered stone, and the sky around it is completely empty.

That empty sky is the whole design. There are very few lines on this page, which makes it fast, forgiving and a good candidate for a child who wants to add their own background: a moon, a second dragon, a village at the foot of the slope.

For the rock, drag a gray or brown pencil lightly along the existing vertical lines rather than filling it flat. The strokes are already doing the work of texture, and light shading brings them out.

Birds of prey choose exactly this kind of perch. A high point with a clear view in all directions costs nothing to hold and shows everything moving below.
