Two animals move side by side across an otherwise empty sheet, and the page is really a lesson in the difference between them. The one on the left has a ridged spiral horn and no wings. The one on the right has a pair of feathered wings drawn in three overlapping rows and no horn. Nothing else separates them. The bodies, the manes and the raised forelegs are drawn almost identically, which makes the comparison very easy to point out to a child who has been using the two words interchangeably. There is no background at all, no ground line and no sky, so the whole page is the two figures and bare paper. Use that. Two contrasting schemes will make the pair read as a race rather than as a matched set. The wing feathers are the only place with repeated small shapes. Five and up. In Greek myth Pegasus sprang from Medusa's neck when Perseus killed her, and the horse never had a horn at any point in the story.
