Mermaid Braiding Seaweed Into Her Flowing Hair Coloring Page

A mermaid is seen in profile with her eyes closed, and her hair is the entire drawing. It is piled into a thick coiled knot on top of her head, falls forward over her shoulder in long combed waves, and runs down the right side of the page as a fishtail braid of about twenty linked sections. Every strand is drawn as an individual line, thousands of them, which gives the whole mass a woven look that no flat color can match. Work with it rather than against it: lay one color lightly over a whole section and let the black lines supply the texture. Her scaled tail curves across the bottom right, drawn in large overlapping scales that are a genuine relief after all that hair. Around the edges of the sheet sit corner sprays of open daisies and stylized art nouveau blossoms with curling stems, and small petals drift through the gaps. Note that the braid is plain hair rather than the seaweed the title promises, so if you want the weed you will need to color it in.
