Mountain Cog Railway Climbing Steep Tracks Coloring Page
A chunky little mountain engine climbs one steep track past fir trees, drawn in bold outlines for very young colorers.

One small engine, one long track, and a great deal of open white paper. This is a beginner sheet and everything about it is built for thick crayons: heavy outlines, big shapes, and hardly any detail inside them.
The locomotive is a boxy cab with a tall door-shaped window and a square one beside it, a rounded boiler in front carrying a funnel and a little dome, and a buffer beam jutting out at the back. Its two wheels rest squarely on the rail, so the engine reads as climbing rather than floating above the line.
The track is the spine of the picture. It runs from the bottom left corner clear to the top right, and the crossties under it are drawn as solid blocks with visible sides, which makes them easy to take one at a time. Working up the line block by block is oddly satisfying for a small child.
Six fir trees stand along the slope, each a plain triangular outline on a stubby trunk with nothing at all inside it. Behind them a single mountain ridge rises and falls in one unbroken stroke.
Above that ridge there is nothing. Clouds, birds or a low sun are all easy additions.
