An old tractor sits square in the open doorway of a barn, framed by the curved gambrel roof above and the plank walls either side. The machine is from an earlier era and it shows. The radiator is a tall upright grille of closely spaced vertical slats, the headlamps are two simple discs bolted on at the sides, and a pair of narrow stacks rise past the steering wheel. The front tires are slim and smooth while the rear pair are heavy and deeply lugged, a contrast that modern tractors have mostly lost.
Grass grows up around the wheels at the barn mouth, and the boards behind carry visible grain lines all the way up.
Age is worth leaning into here. A faded red or a muted green for the bodywork will suit the shape far better than anything bright, and working a slightly darker version of the same shade into the lower panels will make the machine look weathered rather than showroom fresh. The barn timber can take a soft gray brown, which keeps it behind the tractor instead of competing with it.
