Tractor With Hay Bales In A Farm Field

Baling is finished and the tractor stands in the cut meadow with big round bales either side of it, close enough to the edges that they run off the frame. Each bale is drawn as a set of concentric rings, so they fill quickly and make a good place to practice blending if you want to. The tractor is a modern one, all smooth panels and a large glazed cab, with a ridged grille and a deep treaded rear wheel.

Rolling hills sit low behind, and a curling decorative flourish occupies the top left corner. The foreground is dense mown stubble, drawn as thousands of short strokes.

That stubble is the decision you have to make on this sheet. Colored solidly it will overwhelm everything above it, so the better approach is a light pass that lets the white paper show through between the strokes, with a stronger green only in the nearest band. Keep the bales a pale straw yellow and the hills paler still, and the tractor will sit exactly where it should in the middle distance.
