Pirate Ship Coloring Page

The ship in this scene is running through heavy water with both square sails full, each one printed with a skull and crossbones, and narrow pennants streaming from the mast tops. An open treasure chest sits on the deck between the masts, a row of round portholes runs along the hull, and the bowsprit juts out to the left over the swell. Waves roll across the whole lower half of the page in long stacked curves, and on the right a lighthouse rises from a rocky point. Five gulls wheel through the empty sky at the upper left. Sails are usually canvas rather than white, so a light tan or weathered cream will look more convincing than leaving them blank. A rich brown hull with a darker waterline gives the vessel some weight. The waves are the best part of this sheet for anyone who likes gradients, since you can run deep blue in the troughs up to pale turquoise at the crests and leave the foam white. Give the lighthouse a red and white band so it catches the eye from across the room.
