This rescue boat has just come over the top of a wave, and the whole hull is tilted with the bow riding high to the right. The cabin sits forward of center: one large rounded window faces you, a narrow oval porthole sits beside it, and a ring buoy hangs on the wall below with its lashings drawn in. A thin mast rises from the cabin roof with a small ball fitting partway up.

Plating lines run the full length of the hull from bow to stern, which gives you a set of long parallel bands to work through if you want stripes. A low railing of upright posts guards the open deck at both ends, and a squared off locker stands behind the cabin.

The sea takes up the bottom half. One big wave breaks directly under the boat, its crest drawn as a ragged frill, and behind it more swells roll past with curled scroll shapes tucked into their troughs. Every wave is an open outline, so the water can be left white, worked in pale tones or filled in strongly.

Above the boat the sky is bare paper. Nothing is printed there at all.
