Emptiness is the defining feature. A crawler crane sits at the lower left with its lattice boom running up and across, and from the head of the boom two cables drop to a single long beam held horizontally in the air. A second tracked machine waits at the lower right. A thin wavy line marks the ground and everything above is blank paper. Lattice work makes the boom interesting to color, since it is a ladder of triangles rather than a solid shape, and you can either outline it or fill every alternate triangle for a striped effect. The beam itself is one long clean form and takes a single flat color well. Cables are hairline thin and can simply be left. What to do with all that white is the real decision. A sky, a row of half built towers, birds, a sunset, or nothing at all are all reasonable answers, and the drawing supports any of them. For a child who finds crowded pages overwhelming, this is a relief. For anyone who likes to add their own scenery, it is an invitation.
