About a dozen stock cars stream through a banked turn here, seen from above the outside wall. The pack runs three and four abreast. Each car keeps its own spoiler, grille and window net, so no two look quite alike. A scoring pylon stands on the left beside the pit wall, and a catch fence runs the length of the turn.
The grandstand fills with spectators drawn as one dense crowd. Fine scrollwork covers the sky above it, and a heavy ornamental border with big blossoms wraps everything.
Do not start at the border. Start with the cars. Give each one a different number panel shade and the pack instantly gains depth. Put two or three cars in matching paint and they will read as a team.
Handle the crowd as texture rather than as people. A wash of two light shades across the stand is enough, and it saves you hours.
This is the most detailed sheet in the collection. Colored pencils suit it best. Markers will bleed through the fence lines and flatten the scrollwork.
