The truck hangs in the air over a scrap heap. Four huge knobby tires spread out under it, and every tread block gets its own outline. Coil springs and shock absorbers stretch between the axles and the frame, which leaves you a tangle of small shapes to pick at. The cab keeps a roll bar over the roof and a slatted grille up front.
Below the truck, the pile reads as broken sheet metal and chunks of wreck. Two small cars sit at the edge of it, still in one piece. Short dashes fly off to the sides to sell the landing.
Start with the tires. They carry the most ink and they anchor everything else. Then take the springs one at a time.
Bright paint works here. A loud shade on the cab, black rubber on the tires and bare metal on the frame gives the truck a rally look. Keep the wreckage in grays so the truck stays the noisiest thing on the page.
The lines run heavy and the shapes are big, so crayons hold up fine. Markers suit the tires if you want deep black rubber.
