A paraglider pilot sits back in his harness as though in a deckchair, hands on the brake lines, helmet on, legs stretched out ahead of him. Above, the wing arcs across the top of the page, its surface divided by a fine grid of cells, with dozens of thin lines fanning down from it to the risers at his chest. Below and behind rises a rock face drawn with long vertical fracture lines. Three gulls share the air with him, and at the bottom right the shoreline runs out in curved bands of water with pebbles scattered along it.

Those fanning lines are the thing to be careful with. They are the lightest marks on the page and the most important, so work around them rather than across them.

The cliff is the bulk of the coloring and takes shading well, dark in the fissures and pale on the faces that catch the light.

A paraglider wing has no rigid frame at all. It holds its shape because air forced in through openings along the leading edge pressurizes the cells, which is why the pilot has to run to inflate it before leaving the ground.
