Mushroom With A Frog Sitting Nearby

A cheerful frog has settled on a lily pad right beside a tall spotted mushroom, and the two of them are all that is on this page. The frog is drawn with two enormous round eyes, a wide closed smile and four splayed toes on each front foot, sitting up on its back legs the way frogs do when they are watching something. The lily pad underneath is a broad flat oval with one notch cut into the edge and a few soft lines across its surface. Above and behind, the mushroom rises on a smooth stalk with a ring collar just under its cap, and the cap itself carries seven big open circles. Thin lines fan out under the rim to suggest the gills. A small clump of grass sits at the left of the pad. With so few shapes and such thick outlines, this page works well for preschoolers, and it is forgiving of crayons and chunky markers. Green for the frog is the obvious choice, but a blue or spotted frog is just as good. Leave the water white and the whole scene floats.
