This one is built as a frame rather than as a scene. Branches reach in from the top left and the top right corners, each carrying rows of pointed leaves along its length, and the right hand branch is much the heavier of the two, loaded with wide open flowers and a domed head packed with tiny round florets.
The lower two thirds of the sheet is a deep band of planting that runs the full width. Tulip shaped buds and seed heads stand on slender stalks, broad lobed leaves overlap at the base, and there are fringed daisy like blooms toward the right with a many petalled one low on the left.
Between the branches above and the planting below, the middle of the page is left white. That gap is the point of the layout, and it stops a design this dense from becoming tiring to sit with.
A couple of small buds float loose near the right edge, attached to no stem at all, and one long blade of grass arcs out across the open space. It is all fine clean outline with no solid black anywhere, which suits pencils or a fine tipped pen better than markers.
