Mushroom And Snail Friends In A Garden

One enormous mushroom fills most of this page, and a round snail has crawled up to the base of its stalk to say hello. The cap is drawn with thick bold outlines and scattered with big oval spots, each one left open so it can take a color of its own. Underneath the cap you will find a fan of straight gill lines running from the rim to the middle, which are quick to fill in with a pencil if you want some contrast. The snail below has a spiral shell that winds round and round to a tight point in the center, two long stalks with tiny knobs on the ends, and a friendly curve of a smile. Two simple flowers grow on tall stems to the left, and blades of grass fan out around the snail on both sides. Lines here are wide apart and there are very few small details, which makes this a good first page for a young child or for anyone using thick markers that would flood a finer drawing.
