Giant Mushroom Forest Scene

Scale is the whole idea behind this drawing. One enormous mushroom stands in the middle of the sheet, and the four pine trees around it barely reach a third of the way up its stalk. The cap is a smooth dome marked with six large circles, all left open and empty so they are easy to fill. Underneath, dozens of fine gill lines fan out from the stalk to the rim, which is the only busy area on an otherwise open page. The stalk itself is a broad column with almost nothing inside it, a generous shape for a thick marker or a wash of one flat color. Each pine is drawn as a simple layered triangle on a short trunk, and small tufts of grass mark where they meet the gentle curve of the hill. Try coloring the trees a normal forest green and giving the mushroom something unexpected. The contrast is what sells the size. Children who like a story can imagine what would live under a mushroom that big, then draw a door at the bottom of the stalk once the coloring is finished.
