Two children sit on fallen logs either side of the fire. The one on the left leans in with a marshmallow on a long stick, the one on the right holds a mug in both hands, and both faces are drawn in full, so the expressions carry the page.

The fire between them is built from a few broad flame shapes over a heap of split logs, all of it open and plain inside. Keep those flame shapes separate from one another and the heat reads without any blending at all.

A ridge tent stands directly behind the fire with its doorway tied open and nothing drawn in the gap, so the opening can stay as paper or pick up whatever you use on the rest of the sheet. A second tent sits off to the right, half hidden by trees.

The pines are the busiest part of this drawing. Each one is a stack of short jagged strokes rather than a smooth edge, which means they will eat a lot of pencil if you go dark on them. A lighter hand on the two at the back pushes them behind the pair in front.

Above the treeline a thin hill line crosses the page, and the sky over it is open paper with scattered outlined circles standing in for stars. That is the easiest area here and a good place to begin.
