This is a landscape rather than a portrait, and the fairies in it are deliberately tiny. Two of them stand on and beside a low circular stone platform in the middle of a clearing, no taller than the grass around them, which makes the forest feel enormous. Behind them stand about a dozen conifers of different heights, each drawn as a tall spire of jagged layered branches, with two much larger trunks framing the scene at the left and right edges. A plain full moon hangs in the gap between the treetops, a single open circle and the obvious place for the one warm color on the page. The clearing floor is scattered with grass tufts, small bushes, low rocks and a ring of little mushroom caps marking out the fairy circle itself. Nothing here is fiddly and everything is drawn with a confident thick line. Work the trees in several different greens rather than one, keep the clearing pale, and the moonlight effect appears on its own without any shading.
