Dragon Guarding An Ancient Castle Tower Coloring Page

A dragon has wrapped itself around the base of a tall gothic tower and turned its head out toward the viewer, jaws open and three horns swept back from its skull. Its long body coils across the bottom left of the page in ribbed segments, the underside banded like a snake and the back speckled with small oval markings. One wing is raised high behind it with the membrane divided by three long spars, the largest single open shape on a very busy sheet. The tower is beautifully drawn: a steep spire with a pennant at the top, pointed gables, arched windows with divided panes, a carved string course, and a long flight of steps climbing to a pointed door, with lesser turrets stepping away to the right. Heavy flowers and scrolling foliage fill three corners, and a few small birds and drifting stars cross the open sky. There is real contrast in line weight between the dragon, the tower and the ornament, so let your colors follow it. One strong color on the dragon, cool grays on the stone, and something pale on the flowers keeps three busy layers apart.
