Two of the big eared creatures stand side by side with their inside hands joined, both facing out and grinning, with small flowers growing along the ground at either side.

Two figures on a sheet only works if their outlines stay separate, and these two touch at one point, the joined hands, and nowhere else. Everywhere else there is clear white between them. Drawn overlapping they would merge into one wide fuzzy mass and a child would have to invent a boundary.

Four tall ears across the top of the page is the strongest shape here, and because the two are turned very slightly toward each other the ears sit at four different angles rather than as two matched pairs.

That sets up the obvious exercise. Color them the same and they are a pair; color them differently and they are two characters. Both readings work and children tend to try both across two printings.

Each has the same square toothed grin and the same ragged fur edge, with the bodies left open inside. The flowers along the ground are small and simple, the finishing job once the two figures are done.
