The hedgehog stands facing the reader with his arms folded, weight even on both feet, with a faint smile.
This is the simplest composition in the Sonic set and the one a lot of children will reach for first. There is no scene to deal with and no motion to read, just the figure filling most of the page at a good size, which is a comfortable sitting.
Folding the arms creates the one piece of overlap on the page, and it is drawn properly: the forearm in front interrupts the one behind, and the line of the back arm stops cleanly at the edge rather than running through. Overlap that is not resolved is the most common fault in generated line art and it leaves a child guessing which shape is on top.
His chest and muzzle are separate closed areas from the rest of the body, so the usual two tone treatment works without any effort.
The sock cuffs at his ankles are drawn as thick rolled rings sitting above the shoes, three distinct bands on each leg, which is the one place on an otherwise plain figure with small shapes to be careful about.
A few small diamonds float near his feet. Everything else is white.
