The hedgehog runs over the crown of a grassy hill with two clouds above him, flowers growing on the slope and a single ring floating just ahead of his hand.
The hill line is the backbone of the sheet. It is a broad curve that carries from the left edge to the right, splitting the page into a big open sky and a big hillside, and because it is a curve rather than a diagonal the two areas have different characters. Two broad tones across those and the page is already most of the way there.
The flowers on the slope are simple open faces on long stems, placed at different heights rather than in a row, which keeps the hillside from looking like a border.
The grass is drawn as separate clumps of blades with white between them, several of them along the lower left, so there is somewhere to vary the green instead of one flat band.
The clouds are rounded lobed shapes left completely open inside.
The single ring is a proper open band with the hole left white, and placing just one of it keeps the page calm.
