Sonic Holding a Large Gemstone Coloring Page

The hedgehog holds a gemstone up in both gloved hands, drawn so large that it covers his face from the eyes down, with small sparkles at either side.

The gem is cut into facets: a ring of angled panels around a wide flat center, with triangular facets running down to the point beneath. Every facet is a closed shape with straight edges, and that is the most rewarding thing on the page. Colored all one tone the gem is a flat lump. Colored with each facet a half step lighter or darker than its neighbors, it reads as cut glass, and getting that effect needs no shading skill at all, only the willingness to vary tone cell by cell.

That is a real technique, and a faceted gem is the easiest possible place to learn it.

The sparkles are four point stars, spaced well clear of the gem and of each other.

His gloves are drawn with the rolled cuff band and the fingers curled around the lower edges of the stone, with the gem outline breaking properly behind them.

The background is empty, because the gem is already carrying more shapes than anything else on the page.
