A blocky avatar walks a small dog past a picket fence, the dog trotting at its heel with a collar round its neck.
The fence is the steady work on this page. A long row of pointed palings runs the full width behind the figures on two horizontal rails, each paling a separate tall strip, and because it spans the whole sheet it ties the composition together. Alternating tones along it is the obvious move and it looks deliberate when finished.
The dog is drawn softer than the avatar, with floppy ears, a round muzzle and a collar made of small cells, which is the contrast that makes a pet page work next to a blocky figure.
The avatar is caught mid stride with one leg swung forward, and its legs are divided into stacked panels by crease lines.
A cube tree stands behind the fence, a straight trunk under a single large block canopy drawn in three quarter view, which is the biggest clean shape on the sheet.
The grass is drawn as small separate tufts along the fence line rather than a solid band.
