A heeler puppy stands up on her back legs holding a ribbon stick, with the ribbon sweeping out behind her in one long curving band and looping forward past her shoulder.
The ribbon is drawn as a band with real width, not as a line. That is the whole design decision on this sheet. A ribbon drawn as a single stroke cannot be colored at all, only traced over, and children try anyway and end up with a wobbly double line. Given width, it becomes a long winding shape with an inside, and a child can run one tone down its whole length or change tone where it turns.
Where the ribbon passes behind her the line breaks cleanly, so the band reads as one continuous strip rather than a tangle. Coloring it in sequence from the stick outward is oddly absorbing.
The background is completely empty, which is unusual in this set and deliberate. The ribbon is doing all the work and anything behind it would compete.
She stands with her weight on both back paws and her front paws together, a simple upright pose that keeps the figure in the middle clean and uncluttered.
