A heeler puppy sits on wet sand beside the castle she has built, a turret with an arched doorway and a second arch cut into the mound below it, with a flag flying from a pole at the back. Behind her the sea runs across the page as a band of long parallel wave lines, and a sun with straight rays sits in the top corner.

The sun is drawn properly for coloring: a plain circle with its rays spaced well clear of one another. A ray that touches its neighbor turns the whole sun into one shape, so they are kept apart and each one can be treated separately.

The sea is a single band with ripples marked inside it rather than a solid block of water. Running a tone from pale at the horizon to deeper at the shore is what gives the top of the page distance, and the ripple lines are what make that possible.

The two archways in the castle are left completely open, so they can go dark and read as doorways into the mound.

The sand is one large open field with a few grains scattered on it, for the same reason the sandpit sheet leaves it plain: texture there costs an hour and gains nothing.
