A path of flat irregular slabs enters at the bottom of the sheet and winds back and to the right, narrowing as it goes, which is what pulls your eye into the scene. The stones are large and plainly outlined, so they are the easiest part to work on first.

Tall grasses and flower stems press in from both sides and lean slightly over the paving. Among them you will find wide open blooms with dotted middles, a row of closed tulip shaped buds low on the left, a seed head gone fluffy near the middle, and a scatter of tiny four petal flowers down at ground level.

A single smooth boulder sits beside the path on the left. Its plain rounded surface is a useful rest from the fine detail packed around it.

Five butterflies share the air above. Two are large and close, with their wings shown from above and marked in long cells that can each take a different shade. Two more are small and distant near the top edge, and the fifth sits halfway between them in size. Working from the biggest butterfly down to the smallest keeps the scale feeling right.

Nothing on this sheet is filled in solid, so every shape is yours to decide.
