The sky is the surprise on this page. Instead of being left open it is filled from edge to edge with spirals, dozens of them, each coiled in on itself and packed against its neighbors like a decorative panel. Below that the scene is conventional and well drawn. A path of irregular flat stones enters at the bottom right and winds back and to the left until it disappears into the trees. Pines rise along the left side, the nearest four drawn large with their branch tiers stepping down from a narrow top, and a dense rank of smaller ones fills in behind. A single mountain peak shows through a gap in the middle distance with its faces picked out in straight lines. Round flower heads and low boulders line both sides of the path.
That spiral sky is a real commitment. Filling it properly means working through every coil on its own.
There is an easier route that still looks finished. Take the spirals as one flat field and pick out only their outlines in a second, slightly deeper shade of the same color. The pattern still reads and the sky stays behind the trees where it belongs.
