Forest At Night With Moonlight And Fireflies Coloring Page

Moonlight, a near solid canopy and a drift of fireflies make this the densest sheet in the forest set.

This is a night scene, and the drawing is built to look like one. The canopy across the upper middle is worked so densely that the paper barely shows through, a mass of short strokes layered until it reads as shadow. Bare trunks stand in front of it in clean white, which throws them forward hard. A moon sits high on the left as a plain disc with a soft edge, and a handful of small winged shapes drift near it and out across the open sky. Along the bottom the mood turns completely, where a fallen log rests on the forest floor with its bark peeling in rings and a thick band of open petaled flowers and broad leaves spreads left to right in clear, well spaced outline.

The page asks for two unrelated kinds of work. That flower band along the foot is roomy and fast. The canopy above it is the opposite.

Work the bottom first and treat that canopy as a single dark field rather than trying to pick out individual strokes. A blue or a deep violet laid flat over the whole mass will do more for the picture than an hour spent inside it.
