Rows of tulips run back to a low horizon where two windmills stand, the blooms shrinking with distance across the field.

The whole lower two thirds of this page is tulips, planted in rows that march back toward a low horizon. The ones in front are large enough to color individually, cupped shapes with three visible petals and long blades folding around their stems. Behind them the same flower repeats at half the size, then smaller again, until the furthest rows become little more than rounded ticks along the skyline. That shrinking is what creates the depth here, so resist the urge to make the back rows as bold as the front ones. Keep them lighter and the field will stretch away properly. Two windmills stand above the horizon line. The larger one on the right has broad latticed sails and a solid tapered tower with a small door at its base, and a smaller windmill sits well off to the left. A few round shrubs and a bare branched tree break the skyline near them, and a track runs along the top edge of the field. The sky is left entirely blank. Dutch bulb fields are planted in blocks of a single color, so wide stripes of red, yellow and pink will look right.
