This is one flower and almost nothing else. A single peony opens so wide that it runs off all four edges of the paper, built from rings of ruffled petals that get smaller and more crumpled as they turn toward the middle. Every petal carries fine lines running out from its base like the ribs of a fan, so the shapes already have direction built into them. Follow those ribs with your strokes and the bloom will look rounded without any blending. The very center is a knot of short torn edges packed tight together, and it rewards a darker tone than the outer rings. Long pointed leaves push in from the lower corners with a strong midrib down each one. Behind the flower, filling the gaps at the top and along the sides, sits a panel of scrollwork and stylized leaf shapes drawn in much lighter line. Treat that panel as wallpaper and give it a single quiet color, or skip it entirely and let the peony stand alone on white. The line weight here is heavy and confident, which makes this one forgiving for markers.
