Lily Pond With Dragonflies Coloring Page

Three dragonflies hold the top half of this sheet, and each one is drawn at a different size so you can practice the same wing pattern three times over. The veining inside those wings is a grid of small panes rather than solid shading, which means it will take color beautifully if you keep to two or three light tones and let the paper show through. Below them a lotus opens at the center of the pond, its inner petals tucked upright around a crown of fine stamens. Broad lily pads spread out underneath on visible stems, each pad scored with lines that radiate from the notch at its edge. Around the right side sit cosmos blooms, a ruffled poppy and a slim bud waiting to open, while a spike of tiny bells rises on the left. Scrolled corner pieces and a thin rule enclose everything, and small five point blossoms drift through the empty space near the top. That open area at the upper center is deliberate. Leave it white for a bright summer feel, or lay in a pale wash so the dragonflies read as silhouettes against the sky.
