One tree, and no scenery at all. The trunk enters at the bottom, leans left, then bends back to the right and splits into branches that reach most of the way across the sheet. The bark is worked in long curved strokes that follow the swell of the trunk, and those strokes are the only heavy texture anywhere here. Blossoms cluster thickly toward the top and thin out along the outer twigs. Each has five rounded petals and a burst of short stamen lines at its center, and there are small pointed leaf buds tucked between them on the thinner branches. Roughly eight petals have come loose and float off to the right, spaced out across otherwise blank paper. Draw the eye to those first, because they are the detail that turns a tree into a breeze. The rest of the page is white, with no ground line and no horizon, so the tree appears to stand in open air. That gives you a decision to make. Pale pink blossoms on bare white read as spring, while a soft background wash behind the crown will make the flowers glow instead.
