The harp on this page is drawn as a friendly object rather than a museum piece. Its neck curves over into a thick rounded scroll, the pillar down the left side is fat and smooth, and the soundbox widens toward the bottom before settling onto a low oval base. Between them the strings run as straight ruled lines, close together near the top and spreading further apart as they descend.

Five clovers are tucked into the frame. One sits high on the neck, one on the soundbox, two more at the base and a small one has fallen onto the floor beside it. Each has three rounded lobes and a short stem.

The strings are the only part that needs a decision. Filling the gaps between them is fussy and rarely looks good, whereas leaving them white and working the frame around them keeps the instrument legible from across a room. The soundbox is the largest open area and takes any treatment, including a wood tone instead of the expected green, which throws the clovers forward far more than green on green ever would.
