Tentacled Monster Rising From the Water Coloring Page

A sea monster rising above a wavy water line, its long tentacles curling upward with rows of open suction circles along their undersides.

A sea monster surfacing, tentacles up, grinning rather than roaring. The tentacles are the whole design. Each one curls upward and carries a row of plain open circles along its underside, which are the suckers, and colorers usually find those circles the most satisfying part of the sheet. Work down one tentacle at a time and alternate the tone of the suckers against the tentacle itself. That contrast is what stops a long curling shape from reading as a flat ribbon. The sea underneath is built from rows of open wave lines running the width of the sheet. Resist the urge to fill it in solid. Color every second band and leave the rest white, or run one pale tone across the lot, and the water stays light enough that the monster is still the thing your eye lands on. The sky behind is left completely blank on purpose, so you can add your own sunset, storm or nothing at all. Both eyes are open circles with outlined pupils and the mouth is a wide friendly grin on blunt rounded teeth.
