This shaggy monster is the friendly kind. He stands upright on two flat feet, arms held a little away from his body, and the first thing you notice is the pair of thick horns curling back over his head. Each horn carries a row of open ridge lines across it, so you can shade the ridges one tone darker than the horn itself and the curl reads properly. That trick works on ram horns and goat horns too. His coat is drawn as rows of short scallop strokes rather than a solid mass of fur. Leave white paper showing between the rows and the whole animal stays light. Fill every gap and he turns into a dark blob, which is the one mistake that flattens a furry character. The eyes are wide open circles with a small dark pupil set in each one, so most of the eye is yours to color. His grin shows a row of blunt square teeth, and those teeth look best left white or barely tinted. Older colorers can push the horns and claws toward bone and leave the coat a warmer shade.
