Monster Peeking Out From Under the Bed Coloring Page

The monster under the bed turns out to be friendly. That is the whole joke of this page, and it is the reason this sheet works well for a child who is a bit nervous about the dark. He has pushed his head out from the gap beneath the bed frame, one hand flat on the floor, grinning up at you. The bed is drawn as a cutaway from the side so you can see the frame, the legs, the pillow and the blanket all at once. One corner of the blanket hangs down over the side, which gives you a big simple shape to color first while you decide what to do with the monster. Take the blanket in a bold pattern, stripes or spots, and keep the monster a single flat tone. The contrast between a busy blanket and a plain monster is what makes him pop out of the shadow. His eyes are open circles with outlined pupils and his grin shows blunt square teeth, so nothing about him reads as threatening.
