This monster can fly, just barely. Two small wings hold up a round body that looks far too heavy for them, and his feet dangle below as he hovers a little way off the ground. The gap between his feet and the ground line is what tells you he is in the air, so leave that strip of paper white and do not draw anything across it. Each wing has a scalloped lower edge and two open panel lines inside, which gives you three sections per wing to work with. Color the panels in graded tones, palest at the body and deepest at the tip, and the wings look like they are catching light. That is a trick worth learning here because it works on every winged thing you color afterward: butterflies, dragons, birds. The body is one big plain round shape, so it stays easy for a small child even though the wings give an older one something to think about. A row of blunt square teeth sits in a wide open grin.
