Wolf Pup With Curious Expression And Fluffy Fur Coloring Page

This is a portrait, close and head on. A young wolf fills the frame from ear tips to chest and meets your eye directly. Its fur appears as short dense strokes that follow the shape of the skull, fan across the cheeks and lengthen into a ruff below the jaw. Both ears stand pricked and shaded dark on the inside.

Around the edges the artist switched to a much lighter hand. Sprays of small flowers and curling leaves occupy each corner in a delicate line, and they deliberately avoid competing with the animal.

That contrast is your instruction. Work the face in your strongest tones, keep the corner flowers pale, and the portrait holds the whole page.

The expression deserves a mention. It reads as alert and serious rather than sweet, so anyone hoping for a cuddly pup should take the cartoon wolf sheet instead. Older kids, teens and adults will like this one. Fine tipped pencils handle the facial fur best, because the strokes gather close together around the eyes and muzzle.
