A wolf stands on a pile of boulders at the left of this sheet, head tipped back, muzzle pointing up and jaws open. Its coat is built from short flicked strokes that run down the neck and chest and along the low hanging tail, while the legs beneath stay smooth and plain. That contrast between rough and smooth makes the animal readable from right across a room.

Just past the muzzle sits a very large full moon, drawn as one clean circle with nothing at all inside it. That makes it the biggest uninterrupted area anywhere here and the obvious place to begin.

Lower down, a stack of angular slabs and wedges runs the full width of the bottom, each block outlined on its own with a crease or two across the face. Two small tufts of grass push up between them, one to either side. The sky is left completely bare.

Few pieces make up this simple tier sheet, so it works for a young child or for thick crayons. A flat wash on the moon and a second tone over the rocks is enough to finish it. Push the value up and down from block to block if you want the pile to read as separate stones.
