A tiger face anchors the middle of a circle that reaches almost to all four edges. Around it sit four concentric rings: a band of long tapered petals close to the head, then a row of small teardrop shapes, then a wider ring of pointed leaf forms, and finally a scalloped border that finishes the outside edge. Everything repeats symmetrically, so whatever you decide for one segment applies to eleven others.

That symmetry is the whole appeal. Pick a sequence of three or four colors, work it around the first ring, then repeat it ring by ring, and the finished page holds together without any planning beyond the first few shapes.

Count on well over an hour. The rings alone hold more than a hundred separate areas, and the face carries another few dozen.

If you want the tiger to stay dominant, keep the rings in cool tones and reserve the warm oranges for the face alone. Doing the reverse is also worth trying, since a pale face inside hot rings reads as a sun, which suits an animal that has been a solar symbol across much of Asia for a very long time.
