School Of Tropical Fish Swimming Together Coloring Page
Four broad bodied fish drift through a thicket of seaweed, each one ruled into narrow stripes, bubbles rising past them.

Four fish hang in the water on this sheet, every one of them turned to the left, every one the same deep rounded shape with tall fins above and below. Their bodies are ruled into narrow vertical stripes that bend as they cross the curve of each flank. The fish at the lower left breaks that rule, carrying a panel of overlapping scales on its shoulder with each scale drawn separately. Tails open into fans of fine rays. Seaweed grows up both sides and through the center in long wavering ribbons, a bank of smooth stones runs along the bottom edge, and bubbles of several sizes drift through the top corners.
Those stripes are the real work and they are worth slowing down for. Two close tones alternated band by band will turn a flat fish solid, and the effect beats one color per body by a mile.
Leave the bubbles white and leave the water white with them. Nothing on this page needs a background.
A fish in a school watches only its nearest few neighbors and copies them inside a fraction of a second. Nobody leads. The turn you see travel across a shoal is that one rule running through hundreds of animals at once.
