A narwhal swims across the upper half of this page with its long tusk angled up toward the top left corner. The tusk is drawn as a straight tapering shaft marked with a ladder of short cross bands, which is a nice separate job before the body itself.

The animal is split into two very different surfaces. The front third, from the snout back past the flipper, is ruled with long parallel grooves that follow the curve of the belly. Everything behind that is covered in overlapping scallop shapes, some plain, some ringed inside, all of them packed tight the way roof tiles overlap. The tail flukes lift toward the right edge and stay open and undecorated.

Below, the sea is a field of broken ice. Angular blocks and flat slabs float at the front, two larger peaked bergs sit behind them, and long looping lines run between to mark the water surface. Small flowers and a scatter of round bubbles fill the gaps, with one more bloom tucked into the top right corner. The lower band is much simpler than the animal, which gives you somewhere easy to finish.
