Houseboat Coloring Page

Two familiar things are stuck together on this page and the result is instantly readable. A small house, complete with a pitched roof, a chimney and a four paned window, sits on top of a wide wooden hull that curves up at both ends. A railing of upright posts runs along the deck in front of the house and another one guards the stern behind it. A life ring hangs on the cabin wall, drawn as an open ring with spokes across it rather than a solid disc, so it can be striped the way life rings usually are. The hull is banded with three long planks, and a few loose wavy lines run past underneath to put it on the water. The outlines on this sheet are thick and the areas are broad, so it suits a younger child better than its unusual subject suggests. The hull alone is the biggest single shape in the whole set. Give the water a light wash and keep the boat strong and the house will look like it is genuinely floating. A good follow up question while somebody colors it is which room they would want, and whether the chimney means there is a fireplace inside.
